Bachelorette Party Ideas: 5. Sky Hotel Aspen

Sky Hotel Aspen
Aspen has been on our mind quite a bit lately. Then it showed up in Hedge Fund Wives, the novel we're reading. It's a sign! Our bachelorette party idea of the day is the Sky Hotel in Aspen.

Annie was there a few years back after it first opened and can attest firsthand how crazy beautiful the city is, what a great spot it is for partying and how fab the bar scene at the 39 Degrees Lounge a the Sky Hotel is. In the summer, the Sky Hotel has the best pool scene. In the winter, everyone who is anyone is there apres ski, as Marcy, the narrator of Hedge Fund Wives could verify. Were we headed out there in the next few weeks, we would opt for the Summer Playground Package with a $25 dining credit to spend in the restaurant, In-room movie and popcorn delivered right to your door, summer sangria at the hosted wine hour and afternoon ice cream pops in the hotel lobby.

Another smart option for a bachelorette party is the Cocktail or Breakfast for Just $1 More Package. The title says it all--get continental breakfast – or – a cocktail in the restaurant for just $1 more.

Oh--and did we mention that Aspen is teeming with boys?

Quick Braid Hairstyle

We're always on the lookout for chic and effortless ways to style our hair, particularly in the summer months or on our beach vacations. Redken Session Stylist, Noah Hatton, suggests we take our cue from Jennifer Aniston and the sexy hairline side-braid she flaunted at the Oscars.

To create the side braid, start by creating a low side-part, says Hatton. Then, pull a two-inch front hair section away from the larger side of the part and separate from the rest of the head – this will be the hair included in the braid. Begin French braiding this piece right along the forehead hairline, stopping two to three inches from top of the ear. Secure with bobby pins, or a hair clip for an added accessory element.

Hatton recommends you keep the natural texture for the rest of your hair or pull it back into a ponytail. Spritz it all with a touch of hairspray, like Redken Workforce 09 Flexible Volumizing Spray. It doesn't get any easier than that!

Quicksilver and The Standard Hotels

standard hotel bikini

Ever get to a hotel and realize you forgot to pack your bikini? If you're staying at a Standard Hotel, you won't even have to hit the mall to rectify the situation. The hotel is now partnering with Quicksilver to feature vending machines at their hotels with this sleek black bikini for $85. Should you be traveling with your S.O., the machines will also feature a reissue of four Quicksilver board shorts with designs from the 70's and 80's.

We're a bit envious that the guys get a cool packable pouch with their suit and city tips sewn into the waist band of the suits. Beats being made fun of by the other kids for having your name and phone number sewn in! Downtown LA list 5 under the radar art spaces, WeHo has 5 independent music venues, Miami gives suggestions for Cuban and NYC tells you where you can find modern watering holes around the city as the hotel doesn't have a pool. Guess the bikinis are too small for all that info!

The swimwear vending machines launch this Friday at the Standard Downtown L.A. Not staying at a Standard anytime soon? The suits are also available online. But get yours fast, only 250 of each limited edition style were made!

Bachelorette Party Ideas: 3. Paradise Tower Hard Rock Las Vegas

Link
Paradise Tower
is the latest addition to the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas. It opened on Friday (July 31st) a whopping 2 months ahead of schedule. When does that happen? We take it as a sign that Vegas' ailing economy might be taking a turn for the better.

What we like about the Paradise Tower: it's sexy and sophisticated. It injected the youthful, hedonistic Hard Rock with luxurious furnishings and an upscale aesthetic. Paradise Towers has some of the best views of the Strip in Vegas and Nobu is downstairs.

What we're not crazy about: the Hard Rock isn't in walking distance from much, except maybe the CVS or the Hofbrauhaus; and the pool scene is still way too Spring Break for anyone who's not on Spring Break.

If we stay at the Paradise Tower, we'd try to coordinate it with one of Hard Rock's great shows like Kings of Leon on August 19th or The Bravery on September 18th.

Korean Restaurant at Ipoh Malaysia

If you stay at Ipoh, a nice city in Malaysia, you will find a lot of nice food there. Many international restaurants are waiting for you. Some of my favourite restaurant is Yea Won Korean Restaurant.

Yea Won Korea Restaurant (艺菀韩食馆) should be the only place to have Korean cuisine in Ipoh. Few establishments blossomed before but all closed down. The restaurant is located at the row of new shops next to Tesco hypermarket and opposite Jusco. It is also within walking distance to Kizuna Japanese Restaurant.

The airy interior of Yea Won Korea Restaurant (艺菀韩食馆) has no evidence of smoky atmosphere even though no exhaust fans provided above the dining tables. Customer can choose to sit at either normal dining table or an elevated floor which requires them to take off their shoes.

While talking about the food here, regardless which main course customer order, there are about 6 types of banchan served, which include kimchi, muchae (white radish with chilli peppers), the highly suspected Gyeran-jjim (steamed eggs in tofu shape) and salad with mayo dressing and probably others. Although the portion of each dish is not very big, but customer are welcome to request for unlimited replenishment.

Other than that, the Mo Dem BBQ set probably is one of the most recommended meal here, consists of pork cutlets, enoki mushrooms, and onions. The staff there would took the initiative to grill the meat for customer. In order to prevent the BBQ meat to become too oily, they even placed a white paper cup positioned at the end of the grill to collect the grease and oil from the meat. Although the meat were not marinated but customer can eat them with the dipping sauces and leafy greens. It would definitely be a greater taste to use these fresh leafy greens to wrap the meat, side dishes, garlic, and green chilli before dipping the whole bunch into 3 different type of sauces.

Last but not least, Yea Won Korea restaurant owner would definitely recommend some Korean Fried Rice Cakes (韩式炒年糕), which is in red pepper sauce. The rice cakes were quite thick and chewy, while the sauce is bland.

Normally complimentary to a meal, the barley tea is a soothing, Korean style tea, which tastes pretty much like Chinese tea but with a smoother aroma and flavor. Anyway RM3 for a whole jug was not so bad, especially if customer order BBQ set as their meal.

Overall, it is a clean and comfort restaurant with delicious and special food and sincere service. The price is also consider reasonable which worth to have a try.

Bachelorette Party Ideas: 2. Loews New Orleans

After our recent trip for Tales of the Cocktail, New Orleans is still fresh in our mind. We have no doubt that the Big Easy would make a crazy locale for a bachelorette party. We love the Recessionista package at the Loews New Orleans Hotel. The package includes a two-night stay in a queen grand guestroom; champagne, boas and beads upon arrival; welcome cocktails in the hotel’s Swizzle Stick Bar; a $100 spa credit per person to Balance Spa; $10 worth of chips for each person to Harrah’s Casino; dinner at the hotel’s Café Adelaide; one $40 gift card to Pat O’Briens’, home of the dueling piano, and beignets at Café du Monde (These French-style donoughts are miracle hangover cures!).

The hotel is within easy walking distance to the French Quarter, the River Walk and Harrah's, so there's plenty of trouble and shopping to be had!

Pricing starts at $849 (based upon double occupancy).
