Get the Look: Angelina's Hair on Vanity Fair

Who doesn't want hair like Angelina? Her stunning look on the cover of this month's Vanity Fair was created by celeb stylist David Babaii. If his name sounds familiar, that's because he generated buzz a few months back with the announcement of his launch of WildAid hair products, which he created with Kate Huds. Here's the good news: the prodcuts are paraben and sulfite free and 10 percent of the profits will be donated to WildAid, the animal protection organization.

The better news? The products are totally affordable and will be available at Target, CVS, Sally Beauty and Duane Reade stores beginning next month. According to WWD, the 12 product line includes: Mise en Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray for $20, Amplifying Whipped Mousse for $19, Volcanic Ash Sculpting Clay for $17, Hair Polish for $18 and Bohemian Beach Spray for $15. Shampoo and conditioners are available, too.
Babaii is also a fan of FHI flat irons, WWD reports. We're going to recreate Angelina's luscious locks yet!

On Our Radar: Sex and the City Mexican Vacations

Ever since we found out that the fab resort from SATC doesn't actually exist, we've been on a mission to design our own outstanding Mexican girls' vacation. Here are our favorites:

Situated minutes from Playa del Carmen, the Tides Riviera Maya has 30 villas and scores bonus points for outdoor showers and Molton Brown amenities.

A taxi ride away from Cancun, but worlds aways in style, the newly opened Mandarin Oriental sits on 36 acres of tropical rainforest and brings the hotel's signature attentive service to the Caribbean.

The Esparanza looks just the spot Carrie picked out for Big (no more crying, ladies).

Las Ventanas welcomes you with tequila and a butler.

Finally, visit the One & Only Palmilla resort and you can get your Louboutin's there.

Liquids and Your Carry On Bag

This past weekend, we flew with our pops to Boston for our cousin's wedding. Our dad was stopped at security when they spotted liquid in his carry on. The offending product? Hair tonic. (A product men of a certain age are required to use.) We laughed and called him an amateur. But then we were stopped too. We were trying to get through with a contraband bottle of water. All this goes to show--those liquid restrictions on the plane are tricky!

Here are our insider tips for traveling with the regulations:

*Use a freezer bag (not a sandwich bag) for your zip top bag. They're thicker so they hold up better throughout your trip.

*For your face care products (wash, moisturizer, pimple cream, sun block), we recommend sample sizes. We wrote about some great place to get free ones in this blog: Sample This. You can also buy a good selection of them at Minimus.

*As for your makeup, you'll find most cosmetics will be under the 3 oz. size. Don't forget that "liquid" also includes toothpaste, lip gloss, foundation and mascara.

*Hair products are the tricky part (Right, dad?). They generally come in larger sizes, and if you're like us, you like a variety of them. If you can't find the brand you like in a sample size, you can also buy small, empty plastic bottles at a drug store or beauty supply store and fill them yourself. We love this Frederic Fekkai set from Sephora (pictured above) that comes with their uber popular Glossing shampoo, conditioner, styling and finishing products.

*You'll have to take the bag of liquids out when you're at security, so pack it at the top of your bag or somewhere you can easily pull it out.

*Don't forget about any presents: Last Christmas, we meticulously went through our cosmetic bag to make sure we had removed all of our larger liquids. We had wrapped an expensive bottle of Tocca body lotion and forgot it was there. We were forced to throw it out--though we did encourage the TSA official to take it home to his girlfriend!

Here are the official TSA regulations.

How Stars Travel

Fergie
We got a kick out of this slide show from People.com showing Stars' Airport Style. Fergie wins our pick for best dressed for a flight. She's comfortable without being sloppy, the red jeans spice up the outfit and the hat and shades hide a multitude of sins!

The Right Way to Wear Sunscreen

On Sunday, we took a leisurely ride on NYC's Water Taxi on a round about trip to Governor's Island (There are surely speedier ways to get there, but none that are more fun!). We felt pangs of worry for a fellow passenger—an adorable, 20-something who was wearing a straw fedora and safari-style shorts and was white as the driven snow. She blithely sprayed sunblock across her chest, laughing without a care. She didn't rub it in and she didn't put anything on her legs. We cringed inwardly at her ineffective use of SPF but chose not to say anything for fear as coming across as some weirdo from the SPF police.

But, dear reader, please know that a quick spritz of sunblock once you're already under the blazing sun is not the right way to prevent a sunburn. Put your sunblock on before you head outdoors—at least 30 minutes before—so it has time to absorb. If we're going to the beach, we do this step naked so we don't get those burn lines around our bikini (a step that never fails to entertain our friend on our girls' trips).

Don't forget those odd spots like the tops of your feet, your inner thighs or your neck. If it's exposed, it will get burned.

Our favorite sunblocks at the moment are Prescriptives All-Weather Friend for our face. It absorbs SO quickly, like a light moisturizer, especially impressive for a SPF 40 and ideal on a daily basis. For beach days or days when we'll be in the sun a lot, it's La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 15 (available at CVS stores). It prevents against UVA as well as UVB rays and American women used to smuggle this in from Europe before it was available in the states a few years back.

We're proud to say it has been years since we've had a tan line, though we know how to fake them well!

butter LONDON: Get Your Nails Done Now at Dulles

The only bright spot when our plane was delayed for two hours on Saturday was the time we spent in the nail spa at Dulles airport. Butter LONDON is a hit overseas and on-line, and they've expanded to Seattle, Sacramento, and now D.C. We weren't sure what to expect after reading about it from other fantastic beauty bloggers (here too!); but it was lovely. The store and their products impressed us. The nail lacquers are 3-free: no Formaldehyde, no Toluene, and no DBP; and come with catchy names from British pop culture (just for fun check out the butter LONDON dictionary). We grabbed the Aston and the yummy mummy, both in the natural/bronze/taupe family; but if you're looking for colors that pop, check out Bezzie Mate, Prince's Plum, and Mariner. In a nasty twist of fate, there wasn't a licensed technician there to fix us up; but we're hoping to hit it before our flight to San Francisco next month. Not flying through terminal B any time soon? All there products are available on line.

Happy travels with great looking nails!

Jump to the Front of the Line

When faced with a line do you:
A) Walk to the end
B) Find a way to skip to the front

If you're like JSG, you'll do just about anything to avoid waiting in line: flirt with a doorman, hunt for a back entrance, pretend you’re on the list, fake illness. So it was a pleasant surprise when we received a Priority Pass along with our new Saks card.

Here we were thinking the bonus of our new credit card was 10 percent off on our Burberry trench and we had no idea what true pleasure awaited us. The Priority Pass allows us to skip the front of the security line at airports, which is huge considering we nearly have a panic attack at the thought of separating all our liquids, taking our laptop out of our carry on—and getting it back in, and removing our shoes in public without anywhere to sit.

The Priority Pass also grants us entrance to most major airline's club lounges. Given the state of the free snacks these days in the lounges, this is no great shake (think individually wrapped cubes of cheese, water crackers, bags of peanuts), but we do appreciate the cushy leather chairs, wi-fi and free flowing booze. And given the frequent delays and canceled flight these days, these upgrades are more appreciated than ever.

Membership plans start at $99. This also makes a great Father’s Day gift for the dad who travels. Find out more info here.
