Cyworld Korean Popular Social Networking

Facebook now is a new phenomenon in the world, the world number 2 website, replacing Yahoo and still behind Google. But in Korea, Facebook is not so popular since it is in English and too plain. Korean peoples usually the youngs generation prefer http://cyworld.com where we can post pictures, decorate your homepage, chat with friends, play music on their homepage, etc.

Even if Koreans do have Facebook, they don't use it much. It's like a Korean Myspace. Almost every Korean has it. Even Korean celebrities. Koreans prefer cyworld better than Facebook or myspace.

Cyworld (Hangul: 싸이월드) is a social networking website launched on Sep 1, 1999. Cyworld is a South Korean web community site operated by SK Communication.

Cyworld is South Korea’s most popular social networking site. Cyworld has claimed more than one third of Korea’s entire population as members, while achieving incredible penetration of Korea’s young adult market: 90% of Koreans in their 20s are members of Cyworld. Korean Celebrities are also known to have their own Cyworld.

Here are the list of popular cyworld pages. Kim Hee Chul has the most popular cyworld page. He is a member of Super Junior :

The Palazzo Las Vegas

Last weekend we stayed at the Palazzo in Las Vegas to celebrate Anne's bachelorette party along with our friends Felissa, Jill and Stephanie.

The Palazzo is perfect for a girls' trip to Vegas because it sits in the middle of the Strip next to the Venetian in walking distance or a short cab ride to everything. It has great restaurants: we were blown away by SushiSamba and Cut Steakhouse. The Palazzo has a fun pool scene. Its adult pool was closed for the season, so we had to contend with some extra background noise courtesy of nearby children; but our lush cabana made up for it.

The spacious suites have huge bathrooms and ours had two queen size beds along with a sunken living room. There were three flat screen tv's, which proved useful when Anne needed to watch the Yankees, no matter which room she was was in. Other amenities we took advantage of were the first class Canyon Ranch Spa, top notch shopping and the great nightlife at Tao and Lavo. The only downsides to the Palazzo are its size, walking to your room can be a challenge in heels (just ask Anne) and walking through the smoky casino can be a drag if you're sensitive to cigarette smoke.

We'll be detailing our different adventures over the next few weeks. In the meantime, here's a video that will give you some insight into our trip:

Sponsored Post: Shopping in Sydney

We learned the hard way that shopping in Sydney is a bit different than shopping in Europe. We pranced into the Louis Vuitton store, hoping to find prices that were lower than in the states, but—Surprise!—Australia has to import European luxury goods further than any Madison Avenue stores does. Prices reflect that travel time.

That doesn't mean shopping in Sydney is a bust. Just be smart about it and seek out local Sydneyite designers and shops.

Ask any Sydney girl where to buy a killer bikini and Zimmerman is sure to make the list. Known for it's ultra cute for swimwear and going out clothes, Zimmerman is affordable and fun. We bought a bikini and a dress there on our own trip.

Beat out all your fashionista friends and hit Crazy Horse for cult classic Denim and Thread jeans. These are the jeans Robert Pattinson made famous in his GQ spread. They make the organic cotton jeans for women, too.

Another Australian denim line not to be missed is Sass & Bide. Nicole Richie, Cate Blanchett and Miley Ray Cyrus are rumored to be fans of the distressed jeans. The flagship store is in Oxford Street.

Collette Dinigan is perhaps the most famous Australian designer--she recently showed her Spring 2010 collection in Paris. Stop by her Paddington store to pick up one of her signature dresses.

Speaking of frocks, Leona Edminston is not to be missed. She's the Australian version of Nanette Lepore--equal parts flirty and naughty.

Lani and Lola Tote Couture Women's Laptop Bags

All work and no play makes for a disappointing getaway. But if you must bring your laptop, carry it in style.

We like these Lani and Lola pleated laptop totes because aside from being cute, they are quite functional. You’ll find designated pockets for your cell phone, pens, business cards and more.

Another convenient surprise is a hidden back pocket that unzips, so you can slide it over rolling luggage handles — a great plus when traveling across busy airport terminals.

The bags are built tough from durable canvas, and they are water resistant, so they hold their own while you jet set from place to place. All you have to do is pick your favorite design. Lani is green and brown, while Lola is black and white.

Sponsored Post: Perfume Diary

JSG's Anne at the Picasso Museum

Paris may be better known as the “City of Lights”, but to me, it’s the “City of Scents”. If I close my eyes, I can still smell the chocolate macarons at Pierre Hermé, the crisp French bread from one of the city’s many bakeries and the irises at Monet’s Giverny home. Like any good perfume, though, the city's scents are layered. The base notes of Paris are a little gritty and masculine: a leather handbag at Longchamp, the distinctive smell of the subway and a glass of full-bodied red wine at the end of a long day exploring the city.

One of my favorite things to do in Paris is to wander the streets and get lost. In Paris, like in life, it’s the things we don’t plan for that are often the most meaningful. You never know what surprises you’ll find: a chic perfumerie, a picturesque lane or a funny new friend (above). Leave plenty of time to people watch, whether you’re sipping Champagne at the ultra-chic George V lobby bar or breakfasting at a sidewalk café on a café crème with a pain au chocolat. (Start your day this way and you’ll understand the adage, “French women don’t get fat”. This seemingly decadent breakfast will keep you full until lunchtime.) Speaking of French women, they’re so impossibly chic, they’re the only women in the world who can get away with head-to-toe vintage Lacroix or Nina Ricci. And they always smell impeccable.

Anne on the grounds at the Musée Rodin

All this is not to say that the traditional tourist-y stuff should be left off your itinerary. Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and the Eiffel Tower are icons and well worth your time. On your first trip to Paris, you’ll want to hit all three.

Anne with her friend Heidi by the Eiffel Tower

Then, I would suggest heading to one of the smaller museums, like the Picasso or Rodin museum or take a day trip to Versailles or Giverny (below). If you're there in the spring, you'll experience the lushness of the flowers in full bloom--the azaleas, tulips, irises and roses. The memory of the fragrance will stay with you forever.

Wherever you go in the city, the scents of Paris are sure to delight!

On Our Radar: Las Vegas

We've been busy putting together an itinerary for Anne's bachelorette party in Las Vegas that's full of things great things to do and worthy of sharing with our readers. You can follow us on Twitter (Anne and Hope) over the next few days; but rest assured we'll be back next week to dish about our trip.

Thursday:

Arrive in the afternoon. Check in to our suite at The Palazzo (sure, all the rooms are huge; but it still feels great to say it!).

We usually start our trips at Mon Ami Gabi, otherwise we'll order lunch by the pool. We're excited it's going to be in the 80's since we're coming from cold and dreary weather so expect to find us poolside at some point.

Drinks and appetizers at Koi at Planet Hollywood, and Peepshow afterwards. We'd like to squeeze in CatHouse Lounge at Luxor as well.

Late Dinner at Khotan, Treasure Island. Club hopping from Christian Audigier to XS.

Friday:

Sleep in and recover!

Sushi and sake tasting at SushiSamba at the Venetian.

Poker lesson in The Venetian Poker Room.

Yankees watching at Lagasse's Stadium at the Palazzo on the 9ft x 16ft screen.

Get gorgeous for dinner at Sinatra at Encore. Sephora is right downstairs, so we may brush up on our smoky eye skills.

Table and bottle service at Tao Nightclub at the Venetian. According to her website, the saucy Kim Kardashian is holding her birthday bash at Tao.

Saturday:

Cabana time and recovery by the Palazzo pool.

Hair at The Canyon Ranch Spa.

Makeup at Guerlain in The Shoppes at The Palazzo.

Dinner at CUT, Wolfgang Puck's steak restaurant at Palazzo.

Table and bottle service at Lavo Nightclub at Palazzo.

Flights at 7 am on Sunday!

Blog Action Day: An Interview with the Founder of Worldwide Maniac

Deciding to take part in this year’s Blog Action Day on Climate Change was a no-brainer for us. We’ve long supported environmental issues: When you travel as much as we do, it’s impossible not to fall in love with the world—and to notice the changes in it.

Our post is an interview with Michael Torres, founder of Worldwide Maniac, a company that combines environmental and humanitarian efforts with entertainment and fashion. We had the pleasure of meeting Michael backstage at New York’s Fashion Week.

How would you describe the mission of Worldwide Maniac?
Worldwide Maniac helps restore balance in our earth and climate.

We see fashion and entertainment as yang energy. The environment and humanity is the yin. When you direct chi from the yang towards yin, it flourishes.

In our ideal world, the creative power of the yang inspires the hearts of people towards cultivating the yin at a near unconscious level. Thirty percent of Worldwide Maniac profits go directly back into environmental and humanitarian goal, helping generate new found experiences furthering the cause of consciousness. Furthermore, Worldwide Maniac is dedicated to investing not just profits, but in ensuring that these goals are a part of our complete business approach, and that they also receive a percentage of our creative energies.

For example, we’re working with Richie Rich and Pamela Anderson to produce, manufacture and distribute his line, A*Muse, which is composed of beachwear, printed tees and casual dresses, all of which are animal-friendly and organically produced. By creating a beautiful line, Richie is sharing his heart with the world. That interplay, of creating with positive intent—using recycled materials, nontoxic dyes, organic fabrics, helps restore balance and healing to the earth. (Note: The A*Muse collection was scheduled to be shown during Fashion Week Miami Beach last night. That's Richie and Pamela below at his February 2009 show.)

Why did you start Worldwide Maniac?
We find happiness when we follow what feels good inside of us. Fashion and entertainment were never on my radar, but what feels good to me is helping humanity and our environment I previously worked for the Department of Homeland Security and realized I enjoyed helping others out by making our borders safer.

I’ve realized that fashion and entertainment are platforms to educate and help others. This is an opportunity for helping others and there can be a bigger purpose beyond the parties.

What are some of the projects WWM has worked on?
WWM has built green homes in Mexico that uses freezer panel technology. These energy-efficient homes have thick panels that snap in like a Lego block and can be built in a day for less than $20,000 requireing no electricity (use solar panels and hot water solar stills to heat water).
We are working on obtaining permits to build them in the US for those who have lost their homes due to the financial storm. Do a google on Tent Cities in America and you will get a flavor for what I’m talking about.

That's Michael below handing over the keys for one of the freezer panel homes WWM built in Mexico.

Tell us a little bit about the future direction of WWM?
We are working with the Amalia Foundation which is focused on bringing together children from across the world in the hopes of peace and in support of the oneness movement. The kids are designing “world peace” shirts which we will introduce into a Richie Rich fashion show and eventually its own separate line.

We are also working on two feature films one of which provides a story of redemption and the other a look into 4 guys spiritual journey in the desert (a sherrif, a sniper, a spy and a haircutter named Jorge).

And as mentioned above, we intend to offer the energy efficient homes to those in need sometime in late 2010.

Now on to the fun stuff: Where is your favorite place to vacation?
That’s a tough one. Its like saying whats your favorite color or favorite ice cream. They are so good, its hard to pick. I love visiting Mexico. I truly enjoy Europe. Before the end of the year I will be spending some time in Peru a w friend of mine who is a Shawman down there. We might actually work on a documentary together.

You live in Austin, one of JSG’s top places to vacation. Got a favorite restaurant?
Uchi is my favorite for sushi. Mesa Rosa for Mexican food. And Green Mesquite for Bar-b-que. I’m still on the lookout for my favorite Italian place.

Want to know how you can help out the environment? Check out Blog Action Day '09 Climate Change.

More on Keratin Hair Treatment

frizzy hair
We know you guys have tons of questions about the Keratin treatment. What we didn't know is that our very own colorist, Joe Mullen at New York's Blackstones Salon is a pro. Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about keratin treatments

What hair types is keratin right for?
The Keratin treatment can be done on ALL hair types.

Let's talk about what you mean by all. Is keratin safe for colored hair? Does it affect the color? Can you have it color and keratin done in the same day? Or do you need to stagger the appointments?
It is perfectly safe to do on color treated hair. As a matter of fact the best time to do it is after a chemical service. The Keratin Complex is not a chemical. It is a Keratin protein which is 88% of what hair is made of. Therefore, if the cuticle of the hair shaft has been open by a chemical process (color) the keratin protein is fused further into the hair shaft giving better, longer lasting results. It also enhances the color and makes it bright and shiny.

Fine hair?
It's awesome for fine hair because it infuses and coats the hair with the protein, which make the hair appear to be more full.

Damaged hair?
It amazing for damaged hair. Unlike the Japanese relaxer that can damage hair further (if not done properly, which most times is not) the Brazilian relaxer repairs the hair by replacing proteins and vitamins that have been taken out by chemical service or sun damage etc. It is essentially like putting hair in hair.

Does it work for African American hair?
I have not personally tried it on African American hair. But I would assume that it will because the hair is the same. The only difference is that it will not take out the "kinky curl", but it will soften and make it easy to blow dry.

For women who have very wavy or curly hair, how long until the curl/wave returns?
After the treatment the hair can not be wet or washed for three days. During this time the hair will be absolutely straight because the Keratin is infused into the hair with an iron. When the hair is washed after three days, with a SODIUM CHLORIDE FREE shampoo (very important), the natural texture will come back without the frizz and the curl will be much loser.

The great thing about this is that it gives the client the versatility to wear the hair with a more beautiful texture but also allows them to straighten it with the greatest of ease. Most clients report maintenance time to be greatly reduced and the texture of the hair to be amazing. My clients tell me this has changed their lives!

From what we understand, if your hair is straight and frizzy, it will be straight. If it's wavy it will be straight for the first few weeks. If you have serious curls, it may go wavy after a few weeks?
Remember, this is not a STRAIGHTENER. It eliminates frizz and softens the curl to make it more manageable. Clients who have straight frizzy texture will get a more smooth straight result. Whereas, clients with serious curl will have a frizz free softer curl. The curls are usually reduced by up to 30% depending on the client. The Keratin lasts for about 3 to 5 months fading as the hair grows out so there is NO demarcation line. The more damaged the clients hair the straighter the result and the longer it will last.

What are some of your clients biggest concerns?
Clients are usually concerned with the Formaldehyde content. There are three strengths that I know of: Formaldehyde free, 0.02% and 0.04% content. After extensive research I have found that these levels are well below that which is produced in our bodies naturally and that which you would find in ordinary cleaning products. Furthermore, the formaldehyde is produced in the steam that occurs during the blow drying and ironing. Once that is over, the levels are much less. These products are FDA approved and proven to safe by OSHA.

Let us know if you have any more questions for Joe!

Barbie Has Cankles?

Barbie
Our jaw dropped when we read in Monday's WWD that shoe designer Christian Louboutin was redesigning Barbie—she of the 39-21-33 figure—because, as his spokesperson says, "He found her ankles were too fat.” While we might covet the mini Louboutin boxes for the shoes that reportedly come with the trimmer Barbie, we definitely won't be buying this doll for any of the girls in our life. Louboutin should stick to designing shoes—and champagne glasses for variety.

Couples Retreat

This weekend's biggest movie was Couples Retreat starring Vince Vaughn, Kristin Davis and Jason Bateman among others. While we'd go see anything Vince Vaughn does, the star of this movie is the St. Regis Bora Bora. The St. Regis offers overwater villas, gorgeous beaches, and clear blue water. We'd also like to visit the 13,000 sq. foot Miri Miri Spa for the Polynesian Taurumi Massage.

We've heard mixed reviews of Bora Bora: our honeymooner friends loved it, while others have said there's not much to do there. We'll hold out judgement until we have a chance to see it for ourselves.

Sponsored Post: An Insider's Guide to Sydney Part 2

Last week, our best Aussie friend Jillian gave us her tips for sightseeing around Sydney. This week she's back with tips on nightlife, and brought along a friend, Shane, for the younger, male, not-on-our team, point of view

What's your best tip for navigating the city? Is it possible to get around on foot and with public transportation? Or does one need to rent a car?

Sydney is a sprawling city, but the buses are really easy to use and catching one means you don’t have to deal with parking. Usually you can get yourself (by bus) to an area where you can then get around on foot. And, taxis are available in most “hot spots” so if you really get stuck you can catch a taxi to get you home. Of course, if you’re by the harbour try using the ferries – it’s cheap, cheerful and a beautiful view.

What does a quintessential night out in Sydney encompass?
From Shane: Do a spot of people watching as you start the night at a restaurant in Newtown. Catch a cab to nearby Surry hills or Darlinghurst and hop about a selection of great bars and mingle with the beautiful people. Next, head to the popular Oxford Street to catch a drag show, see the latest band or sample of the hottest nightlife followed by a wander down to Kings Cross to dance the rest of the night away and party, party, party until the sun comes up! Things can get messy.

From Jillian: It really depends where you go and what you’re up for. If you love dancing, Oxford Street clubs are the place to go. If you’re in the mood for hanging out at a great restaurant and then trolling from bar to bar try Bondi Beach or Paddington.

If I want to fit in, what drink should I order at the bar?
From Shane: Order a CRAZYHORSE from the Whitehorse Hotel, Surry Hills (below). (Absinthe and apple schnapps, shaken with passion fruit pulp and apple juice, served in a martini grande otherwise play it safe and order a martini ;) JSG Note: We're sticking with our Belvedere martinis!

From Jillian: Aussies are fairly basic when it comes to their drinks. Men are normally beer drinkers and women tend to stick with wine or maybe some bubbly on a night out. Of course, vodka, lime and soda is a popular drink anywhere in the world.

If you’re at a pub, and you want a beer, make it a beer on tap. There are two sizes – a schooner (which is like a pint) and a middi (a half-pint). Aussie beers include Tooheys New, VB, Carlton, Pure Blonde and Hahn. Light beer in Australia is light in alcohol (not calories). You can also order a shandy which is beer with lemonade (lemonade being Sprite) – women quite like it as a refreshing daytime way to have a beer. Plus, you won’t get too drunk to quickly, which is always a bonus especially if you’re day-drinking.

How dressy/stylish are people in general? What U.S. city would you compare the fashion to?
From Shane: (Even though I have never been) I would say New York. There are so many different ‘scenes’ but generally people mix and match to create their own individual look. Its all about a sexy, versatile outfit that can take you from work to dinner and then OUT to a bar!

From Jillian: The fashion is similar to LA and NYC - it’s got a bit of a European vibe and trendy jeans are acceptable everywhere when dressed up with cute heels and a top. Of course, Sydney girls love summer dresses – plus, they’re a great way to stay cool during the day.

How are the guys in general? Friendly? Cute? Do they typically buy drinks?
From Shane: Guys are cute, friendly, fun, tall and did I mention cute? There is definitely no shortage of hot men in Sydney, just be wary to not wear your heart on your sleeve as many also prefer the company of men!

From Jillian: Yes! The guys are cute! And there’s plenty at various pubs and clubs around Sydney. Of course, as an old married woman, I haven’t been out cruising for blokes in a while, but I know they’d love a tourist to hook up with! Of course, being a ridiculously safe mother I have to say – always look out for your girlfriends! (JSG Note: Jillian is younger than us!) Don’t go wandering off by yourself with a strange guy you don’t know too well. Sydney is a great place, but you want to put your safety first and make sure you have a holiday you remember for the right reasons.

Do people really eat vegemite?
From Shane: I had it for breakfast this morning ;)

From Jillian: Yes! There’s nothing better than a couple slices of vegemite toast to cure a fuzzy head from one too many drinks the night before.

Vegas Outfits for Daytime

Whether you're shopping, having a leisurely morning-after lunch or playing Black Jack, you never know when you're going to meet a hottie or get slipped a VIP club pass. Your outfit for Vegas for the daytime should be similar to what you might wear on a first date. You want it to be flirty and sexy, but leave a bit more to the imagination than your dress for the evening does. (After all, you don't want to risk getting mistaken for the talent or look like you're on a permanent walk of shame.) It's always important to look your best. Our suggestion? A cute top and jeans. Here are JSG Vegas outfits picks for daytime:

Vegas Outfit #1: Sequins
We're pioneers of the sequin for day-time movement. Usually we only let a peek shine through underneath a cardi when we're at the office or running errands, but in Vegas, you can go full throttle and wear a sparkly tee to breakfast if you want. This Velvet sequined tee is from ShopBop.
Vegas outfit sequins

Vegas Outfit #2: Fringe
Fringe is another item we can never get enough of. This tassle T-shirt from Top Shop subtly whispers, "stripper," without crossing the line into Pamela Anderson territory.

Vegas Outfit #3: Leopard Pring
A leopard print halter is another Vegas no-brainer. This Alice + Olivia silk-spandex one is just the right side of cougar.

Vegas Outfit #4: Off the Shoulder top
Don't be afraid of color, either. This trippy Elizabeth and James top is sexy and off the shoulder, yet still looks great with your skinny jeans and is totes comfy.

Vegas Outfit #5: One Shoulder Top
This one would be pushing the envelope during the day in any other city save Vegas. We love this Nanette Lepore top because it's purple, form fitting and named, "Skip School Top" on Piperlime.

Bachelorette Party Ideas: Scavenger Hunt

Annie's Vegas bachelorette party is only days away. She (smartly) ruled out penis straws and other X-rate paraphernalia, but did say she's game for a bachelorette party scavenger hunt. What should we put on the list for all the girls to do? Here's what we've got so far:

Talk her way into the VIP area of a bar
Do a tequila shot with a guy from Texas
Meet a guy named Leo (her fiancé's name)
Find bouncer who will carry her over the threshold of the bar
Dance with a groom-to-be who is on his bachelor party
Get a piece of gum from a celebrity--or feel his pec.

Vegas for Guys

New York New York Casino
We've been talking about everything in Vegas there is for the girls to do, we thought it was time to get the guys point of view on Vegas. This is from our best single, straight guy friend, who went to Vegas this past summer. We promised not to reveal his name.

Where did you stay in Vegas?
I stayed at the New York, New York. It was a change of pace because I've only stayed off-the-strip at the Rio previously.

What did you like and dislike about your hotel? Would you recommend it?
It was cheap and on the strip. I didn't like the crowds and Disneyland-factor to it.

How many guys were in your group?
4

Where did you eat? Any recos?
It was either cheap pizza or super expensive Japanese. I don't remember the names.

Did you spend a lot of time gambling?
Yes! About 2-3 hours per day at the roulette wheel.

Are you open to flirting while playing roultette/black jack, etc?
Only if I'm already winning and not focused on winning. But then again, I am a guy. The right girl can break my concentration.

What did you do during the day?
Gambled and went to pool parties - MGM Grand.

What were your favorite clubs?
Club XS at Encore was hands down the best club on earth.
Club XS encore

Let’s talk girls: How risqué do you like to see a woman dress? Can her outfit ever be too revealing?
Moderately risque if she has good body. If she's out of shape please wear a burka. (JSG Note: Kill him. We're just the messenger.)

Do you like for women to approach you? Or would you prefer to make the advances?
Women making the approach is a nice change-of-pace. I do enjoy the hunt, though.

What could a woman do in Vegas that would turn you off?
Get sloppy drink, talk about her boyfriend back home, or steal my wallet.

On Our Radar: The W Barcelona

The W Barcelona — Our Kind of Place

Some cities get to have all fun. Sigh. Whether you are craving mountain views or sandy beaches, the city of Barcelona has it all. Now it can add a brand new and indulgent W Hotel to its repertoire. With 473 guest rooms looking this good, you may be tempted to stay in, but there is so much more to discover even right within the hotel.

For starters, whether you are lying by pool, walking seaside or breaking a sweat on the treadmill, you’ll have stunning, panoramic views of the Mediterranean. How’s that for workout motivation? The WET deck features staff on hand to keep you comfortable while lounging by the infinity edge pool overlooking the sea.

You also can’t miss out Spain’s first Bliss Spa at the W. With 7,500-square-feet of space dedicated to a retail beauty boutique, luxury nail lounge, eight treatment rooms, men’s and women’s lounges, and a co-ed water lounge with a sauna, steam room and indoor pool, it may be hard to leave. But that’s just the right pampering a girl needs before a strolling down to the beautiful W Living Room Bar for a cocktail or two.

The W keeps you right in the middle of the action. Its home in the La Barceloneta neighborhood gives you easy access to the vibrant and historical old city area, including the infamous Las Ramblas street and Gaudi’s unforgettable architecture. Then head in the opposite direction through the modern section Barcelona to enjoy the coastal views, water sports and tasty food on your way to the Olympic village.

Apparently, at the W Barcelona … you can have it all!

The Culinary Center at the Ritz-Carlton Cancun

The highlight of my recent trip to Cancun was the cooking class I took at The Culinary Center at the Ritz-Carlton. The new facility (aka my dream kitchen) is decked out with miles of granite, light maple cabinets, Viking appliances from the induction stove top to the toaster, and breath-taking views of the ocean.

I was treated to the Real Mexican class with the charming and super talented Executive Chef Rainer Zinngrebe. Our two hours began (how else?) with excellent margaritas then we moved to the stove top to prepare our churro batter. Next we made red snapper and shrimp ceviche with fresh vegetables like cilantro, jicama, and peppers. The enchiladas were a breeze as the Ranchera sauce was pre-made. We finished off by frying our churros and drizzling them with chocolate ganache.

The Culinary Center also offers classes in grilling on the seaside patio, dinner at the chef's table, and tequila and wine tasting sections.

Last weekend, we recreated the menu for our friends Phoebe and Brent and while we'd give ourselves an A for effort, the results weren't nearly as good as our lunch in Cancun. Let's chalk it up to not having the freshest veggies and seafood. Our ceviche fixings are above and the ranchera sauce (pre-bake) is below. Anyone hungry?

If you want to try out some of Rainer's recipes at your next party, check out the book he authored with Chef Rodrigo Torres Contreras, Small Bites, Big Tastes, which features 80 easy and creative recipes with both Asian and South American influences.

Sponsored Post: An Insider's Guide to Sydney

There's no better way to learn about a city than to ask a native. We checked in with our good friend, Jillian, who lives in Sydney, for advice on what's not to be missed in her hometown:

Sydney is all about the water – whether you’re on the beach or having a drink at a bar on the harbour – it’s not Sydney if you’re not near the water. I would suggest trying to fit the following activities into your visit:

• A coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee (or reversed from Coogee to Bondi) – stop along the way and have fish and chips for lunch at one of the beaches. It’s a long walk, so wear comfortable shoes! You’ll go from Bondi to Tamarama to Bronte to Clovelly and end up at Coogee. Surfing lessons at Bondi are good fun, too! (That's Bondi, above)

• A walk around the Royal Botanic Gardens (below) and end up in an old pub at the Rocks area of Sydney. Or, stroll around Circular Quay and check out the Opera House – there are plenty of restaurants or bars to pop into for a drink.

• A boat ride on the harbor – even just catching one of the Sydney Ferries and staying on it for a bit of a ride will give you a great view of Sydney from the water.

• If you can fit in a Harbour Bridge Climb, it is a beautiful way to see the city and great fun if the weather is clear.

• Go into China Town one day and have YUM CHA (that’s Aussie speak for Dim Sum) at one of the many Chinese restaurants. You can also have a look through Paddy’s Markets which are open on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

• Get the Ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo. The Zoo is in an amazing location with beautiful views of the harbour and a fabulous bird show (which sounds weird, but is not to be missed)! There’s also the new Southern’s Ocean exhibition and a new baby elephant that was just born a few months go.

• There are plenty of markets to visit during the day on the weekends, too. Glebe markets, Bondi markets, or Balmain markets – I think most are on a Saturday and they’re fun to stroll around.

• And, most importantly, the Paddington-end of Oxford street is full of great shopping and lovely cafes. A girl could spend a few hours walking up and down this street, trying on clothes, stopping for coffee and ending up at a bar for a wine to celebrate new purchases!
